Quick Summary / Abstract: Staff is bringing a recommendation forward for our Board of Trustees to authorize the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Business Services to accept the lowest responsive bid and execute a contract with the lowest responsible bidder to perform the work of replacing and restoring the roofing at Marylin Avenue Elementary School.
Background: Several of the roofs at Marylin Avenue Elementary School are in need of replacement or restoration. Our Bond Department has identified this as a project that needs to be completed as part of Measure J. The plans and specifications have been drawn up by Independent Roofing/Waterproofing Consultants.
Status This project was advertised in the newspaper for two consecutive weeks and all C-39 license holders on our California Uniform Public Contractors Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) Prequalification list were notified about the project. A mandatory bidwalk is being held on June 9, 2020. Bids will be received for this job on June 22, 2020. In the interest of moving projects along related to safety, even in between scheduled Board meetings, staff would like the Board to authorize in advance the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Business Services to enter into the upcoming contract for the Roofing Replacement and Restoration project for Marylin Avenue Elementary School. This project has a start date of June 29, 2020, and a completion date of July 31, 2020.

On April 3, 2020, our Board of Trustees voted unanimously in favor of Resolution No. 051-19/20, Designating Public Works Projects as Essential Government Function and Delegating Authority to Designate Further Public Works Projects as Essential Government Function. This project has been designated as an essential government function public works project.
Fiscal Impact The contracted amount will be funded by Measure J.
Superintendent's Recommendation: The Superintendent's recommendation is that our Board of Trustees
approve Resolution No. 105-19/20, Authorizing Superintendent or
Assistant Superintendent of Business Services to Execute Contract
for Roofing Replacement and Restoration for Marylin Avenue Elementary School.
