Quick Summary / Abstract: District staff has identified a need to replace the fire alarm system at Junction Avenue K-8 School. Staff requests that our Board approve the solicitation of bids for this work during the November 10th Board Meeting.
Background: The fire alarm system at Junction Avenue K-8 School is in need of upgrading and on cycle for replacement. Our Bond Department has identified this as a safety project to be completed as part of Measure J. Staff is using Rainforth Grau Architects to design the new system.
Status Drawings and specifications for the new system are complete and are now at the Division of State Architect for review. The construction start date is planned for June 14, 2021, and will be completed on August 6, 2021.

On April 3, 2020, our Board of Trustees voted unanimously in favor of Resolution No. 051-19/20, Designating Public Works Projects as an Essential Government Function and Delegating Authority to Designate Further Public Works Projects as an Essential Government Function. This project has been designated as an essential government function public works project.
Fiscal Impact The Measure J budget amount for this project is estimated to be $1,200,000.00.
Superintendent's Recommendation: The Superintendent's recommendation is that our Board of Trustees approve Resolution No. 122-20/21, Issuance of Notice to Bidders for Fire Alarm Upgrades at Junction Avenue K-8 School.
