Quick Summary / Abstract:
Staff is bringing a recommendation forward for our Board of Trustees' approval of a contract for construction services for the MOF shop facility, to be modified to accommodate the Expeditor position. This work was recently publicly bid and staff would now like our Board to approve a contract to Construction West Services to proceed with the building modifications.
Background:
In 2015, Total School Solutions recommended that the shop building be modified to accommodate a new Expeditor/Materials Control position, which included a tool room and stockroom for commonly used materials and tools. Our District hired Teter Architects and Engineers to conduct a program and efficiency study as well as a conceptual design of the MOF shop building in 2016 that would be needed to meet the recommendation of Total School Solutions. The electrical upgrades to the building have been completed. The last remaining tasks are the floor plan changes to the building. The changes will also improve the much needed restroom facility capacity in the building. The Engineer’s estimate for this work was $291,448.00 in April, 2018.
Status:
A public formal bid opening was held on February 19, 2019 and six (6) bids were received for the Maintenance, Operations & Facilities Warehouse Reprogram Project. The lowest responsive responsible bid was received from Construction West Services, Inc. for $287,877.00.

With Board approval, MOF staff will clear the contents of the MOF shop building and move forward with the necessary abatement work beginning on March 25th. The project with CWI has a start date of April 8, 2019 and a completion date of June 14, 2019.

Fiscal Impact:
The project will be funded by the previously Board allocated proceeds from the sale of the Sonoma Property.
